Wine tasting at Vermentino winery in Olbia

Vermentino is the quintessential Sardinian white wine. This grape variety grows across the entire island, but its true home is Gallura, where the DOCG wine "Vermentino di Gallura" flourishes. The Vermentino from Gallura has a straw-yellow color with golden highlights, intense aromas of ripe fruit, and a fresh, acidic taste on the palate.

One of the best wineries in the North of Sardinia is this one, with its vineyards nestled in the rolling hills south of the port city of Olbia. The winemakers' top label is Lupus in Fabula. This wine is made from 100% Vermentino grapes grown on sandy soils with a granite base. The wine has a straw-yellow color with greenish reflections and an intense aroma of white fruit, flowers, and citrus. On the palate, it is full-bodied, fresh, and persistent, with an almond finish and mineral notes. It has an alcohol content of 14% vol and pairs well with fish dishes, seafood, cheese, and salads.
