Hotel Ristorante Il Nuovo Gabbiano, Cala Gonone - Sardinia
Hotel Nuovo Gabbiano is a well-maintained 3-star hotel in the quiet harbor town of Cala Gonone. Here you can relax on the beach and then enjoy the sea view from your room or have a bite to eat in the restaurant. From the accommodation you can walk to the beach as well as to the center and to the port, where excursions to the Gulf of Orosei depart. By car you can also reach the many hiking trails that lead you along the bay of Orosei.
About the accommodation
Cala Gonone is a beautiful and lively place by the sea all year round and therefore particularly suitable in the low season as a place where you can plan a stopover during your trip through Sardinia. The tourist infrastructure of Cala Gonone today leaves little to be desired: bars and restaurants along the beach promenade with a fantastic view over a deep blue sea, long beaches, tour boats, but also discotheques, pubs, bicycle and quad rental, in Cala Gonone it is all present! In addition, Cala Gonone is a good starting point for many beautiful excursions to countless small mountain villages in the Supramonte mountains. Cala Gonone has several beaches: a crescent-shaped, small bay by the fishing port invites you to jump into the water, as well as a narrow strip of sand under the promenade. On the south side of the city is the large Spiaggia di Palmasera. Those who are mobile can also jump into the cool water in the small, spectacular pebbled cove of Cala Fuili. The Gulf of Orosei offers a crystal clear sea with beautiful beaches, most of which can only be reached by boat or on foot. Cala Gonone is a paradise for mountaineers and free climbers, but also for MTB fans and cyclists, who will find optimal conditions here. Motorcyclists enjoy the endless curves on the east coast of Sardinia. The Hotel Il Nuovo Gabbiano, with its trendy bar, is located right on the small marina. In short, you can spend your holiday here in the middle of a lively town with everything within walking distance.
Rooms
The small three-star hotel Cala Luna has only 16 rooms, which are divided into the categories single and double rooms with balcony on the hotel side and the beautiful sea and harbor side rooms with balcony and sea view. The rooms are equipped for one or two people. On request, an extra bed or bunk bed can be added to create a room for 3 or 4 people.
Activities
The port of Cala Gonone is right in front of the hotel. Ferries leave daily from here to the Bue Marino Caves and to the many hidden coves of Orosei that can only be reached by boat or by a long walk. Discover and experience more? The area around Cala Gonone is ideal for fantastic walks. For example, how about a trip to the longest gorge in Europe "Gola di Gorropu" or the Neolithic archaeological site of Tiscali?

Ferries depart daily from the marina of Cala Gonone to the caves of Bue Marino, where monk seals have been spotted, and to the many stunning bays of Orosei, most of which are only accessible by boat or on foot. We highly recommend visiting some of Sardinia’s most beautiful bays, such as Cala Goloritzé, Cala Sisine, Cala Luna and Cala Mariolu.
There are numerous spectacular hiking trails near Cala Gonone as well. One of Europe’s largest gorges, Gola di Goroppu, with walls up to 400 metres, and the nuragic village Tiscali are definitely worth a visit. Cala Gonone’s Sea Aquarium can show you all about the life in the Mediterranean sea.

Discover the province of Nuoro in east Sardinia
It's like time has stood still in the versatile province of Nuoro, known for its unique coastline and pristine nature. Nuoro is the least densely populated region of the island. Through the years neither the Romans, Carthaginians nor any other foreign conquerors have succeeded in invading the area, because of which it's been able to develop its own culture. Nowadays Nuoro's unique folklore and traditions are still visible during the local festivities.
