Public transport tips from Sardinia4all
Do you want to travel by public transport in Sardinia? Sardinia has various bus and train connections, but you should keep in mind that the network, with the exclusion of the larger cities, is not always optimal. In addition, the prices of taxis are high. Sardinia4all therefore advises you to be in possession of a (rental) car if you plan to see and undertake a few things on the spot. If you decide to travel within Sardinia without a car, read the tips below to prepare for the various options.
Public transport in Cagliari
In the capital Cagliari you will hardly have any problems. The city has a good network. From Cagliari Elmas airport you can reach Piazza Matteotti in the center of the city in 10 minutes by train. The trains run every 20 minutes between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. and the price of a ticket is approximately € 1.30. Within the city and to the Poetto beach you can move easily with the bus or tram (Metro Cagliari) . The tram, which has been operating for several years, has a number of stops in the center and connects the town with small villages near Cagliari and the hospital in Monseratto. The plan is to expand this network in the future.
During the summer months there is also an intercity bus from Cagliari via Oristano, Nuoro, Siniscola, Olbia, Arzachena and Palau to Santa Teresa di Gallura in the north.
