Holiday apartments in a wonderfully quiet location, only a 5-minute drive from Vignola Mare beach. In Stazzo Cugara you spend the night in one of the seven simple but attractively furnished self-catered houses on the enormous estate. This authentic Stazzo Gallurese also offers a swimming pool and is without doubt a nice base if you want to visit the northwest and the northeast of Sardinia.
Staying in an authentic Stazzo Gallurese
The Cugara estate is home to three so-called “stazzos”. These are traditional, rectangular country houses that can only be found in the northern Gallura region of Sardinia. The stazzo officially served as a shelter for shepherds, who sometimes spent days on the road with their herds. The construction of the oldest part of the stazzo La Cugara was inhabited by the owner and dates back to 1800. Later a second stazzo was built as a horse stable and a separate stazzo for the shepherds. The accommodation takes its name from the Nuraghe "La Cugara" which is located in the highest part of the estate. Today you can stay on this estate in one of these authentic houses that were transformed into attractive holiday homes after the 1970s. The swimming pool provides some cooling during the warm summer months.
Seven apartments
In the three stazzo houses seven attractive apartments and studios. Depending on the type of apartment, you have 1 or 2 bedrooms, with the exclusion of the studios that consist of 1 room. In addition to a kitchenette, television, bathroom with shower, each house also has an outside seating area with a barbecue and several terraces offer a view of the sea. You can also rent the apartments for only two nights in the low season. In high season, the minimum stay is 3 nights in July and 4 nights in August.
Nice base if you want to visit the north of Sardinia
In addition to lounging by the pool or getting some fresh air at the beach of Vignola Mare, its strategic location also makes it easy to make day trips in the north of Sardinia. If you would like to chill in a fashionable seaside resort, you can easily spend a day in one of the seaside resorts on the Costa Smeralda or drive west to Castelsardo and the pleasant town of Alghero! Of course, the Maddalena Islands are also an option.

Vignola
Vignola is one of the little known holiday areas on the island. The long sandy beach, divided in two by a rocky promontory, is popular with surfers and kiters, especially in winter when it is really quiet here. Only in summer does the coastal town come to life when the surrounding campsites are open. Here you can enjoy a walk along the coast - west to the old Saracen tower La Turra, which dominates the entire coastline to the chapel of San Silverio, built here by Pontine fishermen in honor of their patron saint. Well into the 1950s, fishermen came from far and wide to fish for lobsters and corals at Vignola. Immediately behind it is another, small, lonely beach.
On the other hand, as you walk east along the coast you'll pass amazing snorkeling rocks to the natural beaches of Riu Saldi, which are framed by a thick pine forest. Here the beaches get rougher and pebbly, but the beach vegetation of reeds, dune funnel daffodils, rushes, beach thistles and snow-white beach felt flowers stretch out to the sea. It is wonderfully quiet and romantic here!
